Facts About The Festival of Lights
The Winter Festival of Lights is Canada’s foremost illumination festival in Niagara Falls, Canada.Every winter Canada captures the magic of the holiday season. The eight-kilometer illumination that travels through gorgeous landscapes of Niagara Falls, Dufferin Islands, and surrounding tourist districts. This festival is a treasured family tradition for many people all over the world as they have over one million people visiting there every year. They have even stepped up in the modern day and age by having a Winter Festival of Lights application for the route map, events schedule, and much more. There are many illuminations that are part of this festival of lights.
The Beautiful and Interesting Festival Illuminations
The illuminations of this festival include the iconic Zimmerman fountain, three-dimensional Canadian Wildlife displays like Moose, Deer, and Bison in Dufferin Islands, the world’s largest Canadian flag, and Noah’s Ark. Niagara Falls iconic Skylon Tower is also lit up as well as more than fifty trees in Dufferin Island that are covered in lights. Toronto Power also has a Generating Station Light Show. There are some more recent additions to the light festival.
The newer additions to the light festival include the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Inukshuk in Dufferin Islands, a 3D Projection Mapping Show, median lighting in Queen Victoria Park, and lighting of the Canadian Niagara Power Plant. There are also quite a few events that are part of this festival.
Along with the illuminations and displays, this festival has a lot of events that are part of it. They include the Opening Ceremonies in Queen Victoria Park, laser light shows, weekly firework shows, a sound and light show, and a holiday walking tour. The other events include nightly falls illumination, a Festival of Stars Concert, the Sparkle Lighting Awards, the Niagara Falls New Years Eve Concert, and the Niagara Falls Icewine Festival.
The Festival Ambassadors Will Appreciate Your Donation
There is no charge to enter the festival and view the beautiful lights, but donations are appreciated. They suggest $5-10 per car and a dollar per person for coach buses. The donation is definitely worth seeing the beautiful and gorgeous illuminations and will help them fund the festival for years to come.
