The Whirlpool Aero car is a large cable car suspended from six strong cables giving a breath-taking view of the Niagara Whirlpool.
Designed in 1916 by famous Spanish civil engineer and mathematician, Leonardo Torres Quevedo the aerial cable car is the only one of its kind in existence and is a very popular tourist attraction.
formed at the end of the rapids where the gorge turns abruptly counterclockwise and the river finds it route through the narrowest of channels in the gorge. The Whirlpool Aero Car has a capacity of 35 passengers. It is not accessible by wheelchair and is open between April and November.
High above the fascinating Niagara Whirlpool, the Whirlpool Aero Car transports upto 35 passengers safely through the air between two different points of the Canadian shore of the Niagara River.
The viewpoint is high enough to see the natural whirlpool phenomenon created when the large volume of water from the Niagara Falls squeezing into the narrow Niagara Gorge. The gorge takes an abrupt turn which causes the water to spin in a counterclockwise direction and forming the Niagara Whirlpool.
An Aero car round trip, which is around one kilometre in distance takes around 10 minutes to complete. Unfortunately the Whirlpool Aero Car is not wheelchair accessible.
