2. Floral Clock

Nearly as many pictures are taken of this unusual site as there are of the Falls, making it a highly visited destination on the Niagara Parkway! The horticultural crew of Niagara Parks looks after the planted face, while Ontario Hydro, the company that built the clock in the first place, keeps the mechanism in operating order.

Approximately sixteen thousand carpet bedding plants are used to make the elaborate decorations on the clock face. Twice a year, the flower arrangement is altered to include four varieties of Alternanthera, viola, and green and grey variations of Santolina Sage in the spring and summer, respectively.

Blue Festuca Grass and California Golden Privet can be utilized as contrast. Westminster chimes that sound on the quarter hour are housed in a tower behind the clock, and there are various displays throughout the grounds surrounding the clock. If the tower door is open, you can look at the workings of the clock and view historical photos tracing the evolution of nearly every face design back to 1950.
