ToNiagara Recommends

Thinking of taking a trip to Niagara Falls!? Whatever your reason for the trip and whatever the occasion, you must not leave for Niagara Falls without reading this article!

Here are the top 10 things to do in Niagara Falls: ToNiagara recommends!

PLANNING YOUR TRIP

First of all, theSeasonyou choose to make your trip, truly matters! While we believe that the Niagara Falls area is always a big attraction for tourists all year round; things are just more accessible, more comfortable, and more convenient in terms of getting around, in the spring/summer season. So, if possible, we recommend that you plan your trip around that time in the year.

NIAGARA FALLS ATTRACTIONS

When we were writing this article, we decided that we would leave out the one obvious activity out of our list; which is to see Niagara Falls itself!
Last month, in the peak season of mid-July our ToNiagara staff members were at the Falls, as a part of a mini weekend getaway. (Yes, we take vacations there too) And on that trip, while strolling past the Casino, they saw the words “Don’t forget to see the Falls!” in BIG glitterati lettering, and they just about died laughing!
I mean yeah, they were just filler words amidst an array of other displays, announcing various shows at the Casino and what not…but seriously dude! We wondered, who on earth would go to Niagara Falls, and forget to the see the Falls itself! Especially the first timers! If its your third, fourth, fifth trip to the Falls, and you categorically don’t want to see them and use that same time for something else, we can imagine that! But for visitors making their way around Niagara Falls for the first time?! Can you imagine, that someone would forget to see the Falls!
Anyways, that was quite hilarious to our staff and for all of us here at the office had a good laugh about it! And so,right at the start of putting together this article with the top 10 things to do at Niagara Falls, we decided that we would leave out the onevery obvious thing from the list of things to do at Niagara Falls; namely seeing Niagara Falls for yourself!!
No matter how long or short a trip to Niagara Falls it is, it won’t be complete without seeing the Falls! We hope you get the obvious! Go to the rest of the sites, that literally tell you do that in the similar articles for their recommendations on the top things to do at Niagara Falls! We, just have faith, that you will not forget that item on your itinerary!
With that said, here are some of the interesting and fun things to do, while you are at Niagara Falls!

#1 FIREWORKS HORN BLOWERCRUISE

FIREWORKS HORN BLOWERCRUISEIf you have the time on your hands, and your schedule allows for this; take the last cruise on the Horn Blower. Check the Fireworks schedule here.
It is a 40 Mins at Night, boarding around 9:15 PM EST, with the boats leaving at around 9:30- 9:40 PM-ish. This night time Fireworks cruise, is quite an experience in itself. You get to enjoy some live music as you wait on the dock to board your ship. There is also food and drinks. And you can bring your drink along on the Horn Blower when you board. Enjoy a chilled beer or a glass of locally crafted Niagara wine while seeing the Falls at night! And you get to see the Fireworks from the boat at 10PM! This could be the last thing to schedule, at the end of your day- and boy what a way to end the day!!

#2 JOURNEY BEHIND THE FALLS

JOURNEY BEHIND THE FALLSThis adventure tour is the next must try thing that you should check out on your next trip to Niagara Falls! Journey Behind the Falls is one of the most unique ways to see the Falls!

What it is
As the name of this trip suggests, it literally is a Journey Behind the Falls! You descend to 150 feet to explore the 130- year old tunnels through the Niagara Falls bedrock! Take our word for it, its simply awesome! You will feel the vibrations coming from the thunderous fall of the water of the Horseshoe Falls as you approach them through the tunnel! Make sure to wear your poncho in this trip too (like on the Hornblower) because you are sure to get wet!

#3 SKYLON TOWER

SKYLON TOWERThe Skylon Tower at Niagara Falls is one of its iconic structures. On your trip to Niagara Falls, you simply cannot miss it and you cannot-not think and wonder about what that tower is all about. If you live in Toronto, and take a trip on your own or on a tour bus ride with us from Toronto to Niagara Falls, you are bound to pass a CN tower like structure, on your way there!
Since it opened its doors in 1965, the Skylon tower has been one of Niagara Falls big tourist attractions. From the outside, (and especially if you are a first timer at Niagara Falls, it looks quite mysterious! At least it did to us, at first and we had to really get there to see for ourselves what this place is all about!
But with that said- don’t let that mysterious quality of the tower fool you! There is lots to do there! And yes, it is a fun destination for both adults and kids!
First of all, lets get the obvious out the way- the view from top! Its breath taking and a sight to see! We won’t say much, but go up there, and see for yourself! You also enjoy the view as you dine! They have an impressive buffet to choose from and all of that served in style in their revolving dining room!  Making a 360 degree revolution once per hour, the view is really spectacular! Click on this link for more info on their delicious lunch and dinner menus!
Apart from planning a lunch or a dinner there, you can shop around or check out the famous Angelo Rossi Galleria glass studio which hosts various glass blowing performances. There’s also an interactive gaming zone, if you plan to take your kids along!

#4 CLIFTON HILL ATTRACTIONS

CLIFFTON HILLAt Niagara Falls, Clifton Hill is where all the action is! Buzzing with life and lights and colour at all times of the day or night, Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls is a must visit place on your trip there! With lots to do for both adults and children, you can easily spend a couple (or maybe more) hours on this lively street! While there are many attractions to check out on Clifton Hill, there are few that are our absolute favourites, and we highly recommend them.
First there are a couple of wax museums- The Movieland Wax Museum Of the Stars and Louis Tussaud’s Wax Museum. And a Ripley’s Believe it or not Museum famous for its bizarre and unusual artefacts! All of them are great fun and quite fascinating, so definitely check them out! Another unusual and bizarre attraction is the Upside-Down House at Niagara Falls. It has all its furniture arranged on the ceiling – and this one to, makes the list for interesting things to check out!
Secondly, take a ride up on the Niagara Skywheel! Even if you are staying at a high-rising place that offers the view of Niagara Falls in all its glory, take the 360 degrees view up on the ride on the Skywheel! Good and somewhat ol’fashioned fun for adults and kids alike! Makes for one of the best photo opportunities too!
And the third place we recommend, although a bit cautiously are the haunted houses! There are several to choose from- The House of Frankenstein; the Castle Dracula and the Screaming Tunnel Playgrounds. But the one ToNiagara recommends is the Nightmares Fear Factory! This one is tried and tested by us; and we can vouch for its scary-fun entertainment! When we say we recommend this place cautiously, we meant that you probably should not go in there if you scare easily, or have a weak heart, or have some problems with your legs. At some point in this 15-20 mins walk through at the house, you will need to crawl…! OK- that’s all we are going to say about this one! Be there on your next trip to Niagara Falls, to experience it for yourself!

#5 BIRD KINGDOM, NIAGARA FALLS

BIRD KINGDOMThe Bird Kingdom is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Niagara Falls. The natural beauty and nature elements of this place has somewhat of a magical feel, like you have escaped the man-made hustle bustle of the city and entered a place that feels so different! We had to include this one on our list!
This is the largest free flying indoor bird aviary in the world! For nature, animal and bird lovers, this sanctuary is a must visit! It has an appeal for history lovers too! Did you know that the building housing this sanctuary now, was the site of a factory built in the 1907!? The original layout and architecture still stands!
You enter a very different feeling, multi-level rainforest and you get to witness a lot of exotic and colorful birds flying around! Not only see them, but also get to interact them! There are events through the day of feeding the Lorikeets and even a bat feeding session at night time! Just check their schedule if you want to part take in those activities.
For all of us here at ToNiagara, this attraction gets our tow thumbs up ! For both adults and kids alike!

#6 ANIMAL SAFARI

ANIMAL SAFARIJust like the Bird Kingdom  the Animal Safari too is a great option for a fun filled day visitation animal lovers! Its kind of huge in size, with a total of 150-acre of ground area! Privately owned and operated this park is the home for over 1000 species of animals!
There are several different ways and options to go around in the park. You can do it the old-fashioned way and enjoy a stroll through the park while taking in the sights at your own pace. Or you can hop on the tram and take a tour that way. The tram ride is cool because there is a narration about the park itself; on its story and information about the various landmarks; that you probably won’t know on your own. Their Zoouniversity, adventure zone activities are great ,and even a behind-the scenes package for you to choose from!
Every year, seasonally in the summer, they have great events planned as well as some good deals on their ticket prices for certain days. If this is one attraction at Niagara Falls that you definitely plan to check out (and we hope you will) then check on their website for all of the info on their seasonal deals. You and your family might just get a great, hard-to-pass on deal! Pack a picnic basket and spend some time in their camping areas with lots of amenities and picnic tables! Or if you are going with a group make sure you check out their group and corporate discounts on the tickets!
Might we state the obvious- the nature park is great fun kids! There are interactive, fun, educational presentation- so its not just like a zoo where you watch the animals! There is a huge list of (animal and non-animal related) activities too that they offer. And the adults can catch the various live shows (seasonal, check website) and concerts, within the park!
As a place that in adult, kid and family-friendly- this one for sure is one of the ToNiagara’s absolute favourites!

And for that, the Greg Frewin Theatre is certainly at the very top of our list! Magician Greg Frewin, is a must watch and must see; not just in Niagara Falls – but even as a great Canadian show option!

#10 FALLSVIEW CASINO, NIAGARA FALLS

FALLSVIEW CASINOThis recommendation is just for adults in your group, and not at all kid- friendly; we have to admit! If you haven’t been inside a casino ever, we have to say that you must check it out at least once! And what better time to do it, than when you are on your vacation at Niagara Falls!
Ofcourse we say that you play responsibly, and you go in with a budget in mind; and stick to your budget! Who knows you might even win some money in the process! Try your hand at the slot machines or better yet, take your money on a roulette table! It’s a fun environment buzzing with activities 24 hours! There’s music and fabulous drink options, to add to the ambience and to keep you entertained! They also have a lot of events going on around the year in their theatres that you could check out!
And we know we don’t have this mentioned in our list of the Best Places to Eat at Niagara Falls; but at the Fallsview Casino Resort and Spa there is a all-nighter eatery called The Famous, which serves delicious food at all times of the day! That’s a great option to eat at for all you night birds!!
