Construction of the Skylon Tower began in May 1964 and had its grand opening marshalled by New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller and Ontario Premier John Robarts on October 6, 1965. At the time of construction the tower cost $7 million dollars, which was financed by Charles Richard Reese of The Hershey Company. The tower stands at 160 meters tall from street level and 236 meters from the basin of the Niagara Falls.
Skylon Tower boasts some of the most spectaculars views of Niagara Falls. Since 1965 visitors to the Falls have been thrilled to see the entire panoramic view of Niagara Falls.
There are 3 elevators, called “The Yellow Bugs”, which make the climb up the tower in under a minute. From the Observation Deck, you will have an indoor and outdoor view of Niagara Falls. On clear days you can see the cityscape of Toronto, Buffalo, and the Niagara Vineyards.

The Skylon Tower hosts two restaurants, the Revolving Dining Room and the Summit Suite.
The Summit Suite offers a buffet style meal for the whole family to enjoy.
At the Revolving Dining Room, you can enjoy your feast while slowly rotating 360 degrees around Niagara. The Skylon Tower is a place that everyone touring Niagara Falls should put on their list of places to visit.
