Sightseeing in Niagara Falls, Canada, is fairly easy as most of the attractions are clustered in a small area along Niagara Parkway. The WEGO bus shuttles provide transportation from various parts of the city of Niagara Falls to the attractions along Niagara Parkway.
Murray Street provides access to Niagara Parkway from the Fallsview area. Walking from Fallsview Boulevard to Niagara Parkway via Murray Street can take some time. The Niagara Falls Incline Railway or the funicular railway was built to address this problem.
Tram-like carriages move up and down the slope on a cable system and ferry passengers from one end to the other.
The Niagara Funicular Railway in the Fallsview area provides direct access from the Fallsview strip to the “Bridge of Flowers” pedestrian crossing over Niagara Parkway and leads directly to the Table Rock Centre. It saves walkers around 15 minutes.
Niagara Parks Incline Railway – Convenient Transportation
The funicular railway line was built in 1966 and originally had open-air cars. From 2013, self-enclosed and climate controlled cars have been introduced to allow year-round operation.
The funicular deliberately travels at a slow pace so passengers can enjoy the view of Niagara Falls on the descent, but it still covers the 500-metre distance in under a minute.
If you are staying in the Fallsview area, you can quickly return to your hotel after sightseeing.
Amazing View of Niagara Falls
As the cable car descends slowly, enjoy spectacular views of the Horseshoe Falls and the Table Rock Welcome Centre. It not only helps you save time but also gives a great view of Niagara Parkway and Niagara Falls.
