Maid of the Mist – A Brief History
Before construction of the first bridge, boats were the only form of transportation between the two shores of the Niagara River below the Niagara Falls.
Maid of the Mist started operations in 1846. It carried people, cargo and mail. With the construction of the first bridge in 1848, the boat was turned into a sightseeing venture to see the Falls.

The Niagara Falls Boat Ride USA Side follows the same path as its counterpart on the Canadian side (Hornblower Niagara Cruise), except that it starts and ends on the US side.

The boat docks are at base of the Niagara Gorge in Niagara Falls State Park, USA. Visitors must take the elevator in Prospect Point Tower to reach the boat docks.
