Niagara Falls in Canada is one of the top tourist spots in the country. It is located on the Canada-US border.
Niagara Falls is actually 3 different waterfalls on the Niagara River and are separated by two islands. The 3 waterfalls are American and Bridal Veil Falls on the US side and Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side.
There are many attractions that give you a close-up experience of the Falls. On the US side, the walk to Crow’s Nest and Cave of the Winds takes you close to the Falls.
On the Canadian side, Journey behind the Falls is an activity that gives you a unique view of Niagara Falls.
Visitors can view Horseshoe Falls from near its base after travelling through tunnels.
This is a ticketed activity that is open year round (except in severe weather conditions). It can be accessed from the Table Rock Centre, which is located on Niagara Parkway near Horseshoe Falls.
Journey behind the Falls – Niagara Falls Behind The Falls Tour
This attraction is on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.
Visitors descend 125 feet by elevator into the bedrock behind Horseshoe Falls. After exiting the elevator, you will walk through 130-year-old tunnels that lead to 2 observation decks near the base of the Falls.
While walking through the tunnel, you can observe the Horseshoe Falls through 2 portals that are located directly behind the Falls. You can hear the sound of the massive waterfall before even setting eyes on it.
The tunnel leads to the upper and lower observations decks near the foot of the Horseshoe Falls. The sight of tons of water dropping from nearly 51 metres above is a spectacular sight.
The water creates a misty spray that will get you wet when you stand on the lower observation deck. In spring and summer months, visitors receive a free souvenir biodegradable rain poncho for protection against the spray from the waterfall.
Behind the Falls Tour – All Season Attraction
