Niagara Parks Commission, established in 1885 to control the approximately 1,325 acres of land and buildings surrounding the Canadian Horseshoe Falls has always needed a large amount of numerous high quality plants for its parks and attractions.
Currently, over 175,000 annual and perennial plants are grown in Niagara Parks Commission greenhouses/showhouse.
The Floral Showhouse has been displaying colourfully spectacular plant species for the public since the mid 1940’s.
Located directly opposite from the former Toronto Power Generating Station the Floral Showhouse is about a 500 metre walk from the Great Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

The Floral Showhouse holds 8 different floral shows per year to display the many different seasonal plants and flowers that are grown in their greenhouses.
Niagara Parks Commission staff has grown Hydrangea, Regal Geranium, Chrysanthemum, Schizanthus, lilies, tulips, daffodils, and spring bulbs to name a few. The hundreds of plants are displayed in three separate greenhouse spaces for the public to walk through.
Multiple miniaturized vistas with buildings and lush landscaping have been created at the back of the showhouse.
One such display shows a miniature village, including wooden suspension bridges and tiny homes placed amongst the branches and the leaves.
There is a waterfront community in a small pond with lakefront cottages and a rail system running through it.
Visit the Floral Showhouse throughout the year as the displays are constantly changing and there is always a new bloom!
