Both the Americans and the British used the home as a military hospital during the War of 1812. It is the oldest property owned by Niagara Parks. The museum presents printing techniques from the 18th to the 20th century. The facility provides hand-on demonstrations and has a wide variety of equipment. The Mackenzie Printery museum is a really wonderful place to visit. Mackenzie Printery’s collection includes works by Louis Roy Press, Canada’s oldest printing press. One of the oldest wooden presses in Canada that was used to print Ontario’s first newspaper was the Upper Canada Gazette, or American Oracle.

In Mackenzie Printery’s collection, all of the equipment is still operational. Visitors will learn how to operate two heritage printing presses and hand-set moveable type during their hands-on experience.
